Chelsea's hopes of signing Radamel Falcao have been boosted after Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone said it will be hard to keep him.

The 27-year-old prolific Colombian international striker has been heavily linked with a move to the reigning European champions since the start of the season.

And, while Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked to Falcao, reports earlier this week claimed that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will make an offer of around £50million in an attempt to get him on board at Stamford Bridge.

Atletico coach Simeone has now opened the door further for Falcao to depart the Spanish capital with his comments, despite confirming that he would like him to stay.

On Falcao, who has scored 27 goals from 21 appearances in all competitions this season, Simeone told Tutto Mercato Web: "It will be very difficult to keep Falcao, but it would be a wonderful thing."
