Valencia to seal striker deal

Last Updated: Sat, 02 Nov 2013 11:58

Valencia are reportedly set to sign out-of-favour Chelsea striker Demba Ba for £7million in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old Senegal international hitman, who only joined the Blues last January from Newcastle United, has struggled for first-team action at Stamford Bridge this season since Jose Mourinho replaced Rafael Benitez in the summer.

Fernando Torres' return to form and Mourinho's preference to play Samuel Eto'o as his other attacking option has left Ba kicking his heels on the sidelines for Premier League games.

Therefore he is poised to be given an opportunity to ply his trade in Spain's Primera Division with Valencia, who are still looking to find a quality replacement for Roberto Soldado after he joined Tottenham in a £26million deal in the summer.

Ba almost moved in the summer but Chelsea would not allow him to join rivals Arsenal on a loan deal, however Mourinho will no doubt give him the green light to move to the Mestalla if Valencia do come in with a firm bid.
