Lambert named new boss

ColchesterFormer Wycombe Wanderers boss Paul Lambert has been named as the new manager of Colchester United.

The 39-year-old Scotsman succeeds Geraint Williams at the Community Stadium following his departure by mutual consent last month.

The U's are currently 20th in the division and are yet to win at their new ground.

Lambert told BBC Essex: "The place is vibrant and it's up to me and the players to go and win football matches."

He added: "There's really a country mile to go and they haven't been playing badly, they just haven't got the results."
