Gary Madine's proposed move from Carlisle to Coventry has been shelved although City could make a renewed move for him this summer.

It appeared the teenage striker was set to seal a move to the Ricoh Arena prior to the transfer window closing but a deal never materialised and he has instead stayed with the the League One side.

Fresh reports suggested Chris Coleman was keen to land the youngster on loan until the end of the season when the loan window re-opens next week but that also seems unlikely.

However, Coleman will continue to track his progress and could resurrect his interest in the highly-rated frontman when the season is over.

"We didn't hear anything from Coventry and it would seem that one is dead," United boss Greg Abbott told the Times & Star.
