Coventry City's hopes of securing a permanent deal for Leon Barnett have been jeopardised by reported interest from Sheffield United.
Barnett has enjoyed a productive loan-spell at the Ricoh Arena after falling out of favour at West Brom and it had been expected he would seal a permanent switch to Coventry.
However, Blades boss Kevin Blackwell has a defensive crisis on his hands following Matthew Kilgallon's departure and injuries to Andrew Taylor, Marcel Seip and Jonathan Fortune.
It has now been suggested that Blackwell could try and hijack Coventry's move for the 24-year-old, who looks set to leave the Hawthorns in January.
