Wigan are being linked with Scunthorpe keeper Joe Murphy who has already been touted for a switch to Coventry.

Latics number one Chris Kirkland has struggled with injury throughout his career and boss Roberto Martinez only has veteran Mike Pollitt and Ghana international Richard Kingson as back-up.

Murphy came through the ranks at Tranmere Rovers before stints with West Brom and Sunderland prior to his switch to the Iron.

Sky Blues chief Chris Coleman has previously been credited with an interest in the 28-year-old former Republic of Ireland international with number one Keiron Westwood being tracked by Premier League clubs.
