Coventry can welcome back top scorer David McGoldrick from suspension for the final game of his loan spell against Shrewsbury.

The Nottingham Forest loanee missed the 3-2 victory at MK Dons on Saturday serving a one-match ban, but will earn an immediate recall after scoring 17 goals in 24 games for the Sky Blues.

Stephen Elliott marked his first start in three months with a second-half double against the Dons, in place of McGoldrick, leaving manager Mark Robins with a selection dilemma up front.

Robins adopted a 4-5-1 system at the stadium:mk, with John Fleck benefiting from the departure of loan midfielder James Bailey, but a change of system may be in order to accommodate both of his in-form strikers.

The City boss has no injury or suspension concerns going into the New Year's Day game.

Robins' promotion hopefuls will find extra motivation as they look for revenge for a 4-1 defeat against the Shrews in September.
