Plenty of positives for Pressley

Steven Pressley was proud of his team's character after Coventry snatched a point against Colchester in injury time in his first home game as manager.

Pressley took over at the Ricoh Arena last Friday and after watching his side come from behind to win at Scunthorpe at the weekend, he saw them fight back from two goals down at home to nick a point against the U's.

"I'm disappointed for them, in a way, because we dominated for 90 minutes," said Pressley. "We didn't compromise the way we want to play. I was really satisfied with lots of aspects of their play and how we found ourselves 2-0 down, I don't know.

"We created opportunities, we dominated possession, we had lots of crossing opportunities and it would have been easy at 2-0 to feel sorry for ourselves, but our response was magnificent.

"I spoke about character at the weekend and I've seen it in abundance again and the players deserve enormous credit for that. Losing 2-0 at home is not an easy situation but the response in the closing stages has given us something to build on.

"It feels almost like a victory by the way we responded and because of the momentum we built. In terms of the effort and the application over the last two games it has been brilliant, truly brilliant.

"They have been receptive to all the information we have given them and the pleasing thing for me was, even with 15 minutes to go when we were chasing the game, we still played and tried to probe for opportunities and although it wasn't a win, it was a satisfying performance."

Gavin Massey gave Colchester the lead just before half-time and Michael Smith extended their lead midway through the second half.

Substitute Callum Wilson quickly got the Sky Blues back into the game before captain Carl Baker levelled things up in injury time with a free-kick from the edge of the box.
