Coventry chairman Ray Ranson has denied claims he put a £3million valuation on Spurs target Keiren Westwood's head.

The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper was the subject of a late bid from the Premier League club on Monday but the move never went through and the stopper stayed at Ricoh Arena.

Some reports suggested City supremo Ranson refused to do business for Westwood because he was holding out for £3million but he insists that was not the case.

"I want to put the record straight," Ranson told the Coventry Telegraph.

"I never put a price tag on Keiren Westwood and I have never quoted any price to any club. That is not my style.

"I didn't quote any figures to Tottenham. They made an enquiry and they were turned down and that's it."
