Sky Blues steal in for top Gun

CoventryCoventry have stolen a march on Premier League clubs Middlesbrough and Hull in the race to sign Icelandic teen Aron Einar Gunnarsson.

The Sky Blues have had an undisclosed bid for Gunnarsson, 19, accepted by his Dutch first division outfit AZ Alkmaar and he is due to come over to finalise personal terms and talk to Chris Coleman.

Gunnarsson has only made a handful of appearances at club and international level, but is very strong and a good passer of the ball.

He is regarded as the next big thing in Icelandic football and it will be a coup for the club to get him ahead of Hull City and Middlesbrough.

The Premiership duo are also understood to to be interested but Coventry are the only club to have had an offer accepted by AZ.
