Fulham are reportedly set to snap up Coventry winger Julian Gray before the transfer deadline, while a bid for Richard Wood is on hold.

Sky Blues ace Gray, who was signed by Iain Dowie on a free transfer from Birmingham City in summer 2007, is thought to be undergoing a medical at Craven Cottage with a view to tying up a switch before midnight.

Meanwhile Sky Blues chairman Ray Ranson has confirmed that Sheffield Wednesday skipper Wood is still a target but they may have to wait until January before making a concrete bid for the 23-year-old defender.

"We put a number of offers and proposals including player-exchange deals so it was disappointing that we could not push anything through. We will review the situation in a few months," Ranson told the Sheffield Star.

"Sheffield Wednesday's position is that any money from sales has to go straight to the bank so they are loath to sell anyone at any price."
