Crewe have completed the signing of promising youngster Chris Atkinson on a two-year contract after he impressed during a trial period with the Alex.

The 22-year-old attack-minded midfielder scored in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Chester and now joins goalkeeper Scott Shearer as the club's second summer recruit.

Atkinson progressed through the youth ranks at Huddersfield to make 13 senior appearances for the Terriers, as well as having loan spells with Darlington, Tranmere, Bradford and Chesterfield - netting nine goals in 76 career matches overall.
