Davis buoyed by Alex display

Crewe boss Steve Davis was encouraged by his side's display as they went down 1-0 to Wolves at Gresty Road.

The Alex were undone by a late goal from Wolves striker Nouha Dicko, but performed well against last season's Sky Bet League One champions.

"I am always disappointed to lose any football match but I was pleased with the way we played and tried to pass the ball," Davis told the club's official website.

"I don't think the late goal justified the overall game because we created arguably the better of the chances.

"We passed the ball better and I was pleased because Wolves are a quality side with quality players and they are difficult to play against.

"We had good spells of the ball, especially in the second half and we restricted them to only a handful of half chances really."
