Cheltenham boss John Ward has moved quickly to scotch reports claiming full-back Brian Wilson is set to join League One rivals Crewe.
Alex boss Dario Gradi is on the look out to bolster his squad at Gresty Road and some reports linked him with a swoop for Wilson when the January transfer window opens next month. However Ward says there has been no approach for the player and he is looking to keep him at Whaddon Road.
He told the Gloucester Echo: "Nobody has spoken to me about it and I was told about it during the week and just smiled at it all.
"There will be rumours at every football club in land with the transfer window approaching.
"But from my point of view, nobody has asked me about Brian Wilson and Brian has not asked to go."
He added: "Of course I want to keep him here and we have already tried to get Brian on a different contract and he is just waiting a bit, which is fine.
"He is entitled to do that, but he will play against Bristol City tomorrow and he will give his all and that's all that interests me at the minute.
"If something changes, we will deal with it, but we'd like to keep Brian here because we are looking to build something, not throw it away.
"If a player expresses a desire to try something different we are powerless to stop it, but Brian hasn't mentioned anything to me."
