Tranmere's League One clash against Crewe at Prenton Park has been called off because of heavy fog.

The match officials had three inspections before eventually deciding that the game couldn't go ahead, with the fog also putting pay to the Carling Cup quarter-final across Merseyside where Liverpool were due to face Arsenal.

The first arranged meeting of Rovers and the Alex was postponed just four days ago, after the Prenton Park pitch was waterlogged.

No new date has been arranged yet, but Tranmere say tickets will be valid for whenever the match does finally take place.
