Crewe Alexandra have denied claims that Liverpool have moved to sign their highly-rated young teenager Max Clayton.
The 14-year-old is the latest product of the highly successful youth set-up at Gresty Road and Crewe officials have high hopes for the young star, with several top clubs already keeping tabs on his progress.
Liverpool and Crewe have enjoyed close links in the past, with players switching clubs with the likes of Danny Murphy and Rob Jones heading to Anfield after spells with the Alex.
But despite claims that the Reds have agreed a £1.5million fee with the League One side for Clayton, Crewe insist they have had no approach for the youngster, who is yet to make a first-team appearance.
