Broad, Harmy miss out for England

CricketEngland have overlooked Steve Harmison and dropped Stuart Broad for the third Test against South Africa at Edgbaston.

Paul Collingwood has been recalled to bolster the batting with all-rounder Andrew Flintoff remaining at seven in the order and Ryan Sidebottom returning from injury.

Durham paceman Harmison had been recalled to the squad for the first time since both he and Matthew Hoggard were dropped on tour in New Zealand seven Tests ago.

But fears that the Edgbaston pitch will not bounce have prompted his omission, so Sidebottom replaces 'one-Test wonder' Darren Pattinson after recovering from a back strain.

Collingwood replaces Broad, who has been suffering with fatigue, although his batting has potentially marked him down as a future all-rounder.

South Africa have allayed fears Jacques Kallis will miss the Test, insisting the all-rounder is "100% fit".

The veteran suffered a knock to his finger in the warm-up match against Bangladesh, forcing him to retire injured when batting.

But a team spokesman said: "He is 100% fine and trained fully with the squad."

Andre Nel replaces Dale Steyn, who has a broken thumb in the only change for the Proteas.
