Flynn "unlikely to bat"

CricketNew Zealand officials say Daniel Flynn is unlikely to bat again in the Black Caps first innings after being hit in the face on Friday.

The left-hander was struck in the mouth by a bouncer from James Anderson on Friday and had to be helped from the pitch after losing a tooth in the incident.

Initial reports suggested that the 23-year-old would resume his innings at the fall of the next wicket on Saturday but team manager Lindsay Crocker revealed that the injury was worse than first thought, as he has had to have two further teeth removed and has been suffering from nausea.

"In those circumstances we don't want him to go out there," he said. "Right from the start, he wanted to go back out. It's the nature of the bloke, he's a very keen competitor and tough as old boots.

"But we're being sensible about it and he knows it's the right thing to do."
