Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has made the shock decision to retire after the upcoming Test series against Australia in India.Ganguly has played 109 Tests, 49 as captain, amassing 6,888 runs at an average of 41.74, including 15 hundreds and 34 fifties. India won 21 matches with him in charge - which remains a record for the country at Test level.
India's selectors picked Ganguly in a 15-man squad for the first two Tests against Australia despite speculation beforehand that he would be dropped.
"This will be my last series," Ganguly told reporters after a training session.
"To be honest, I didn't expect to be picked for this series.
"Before coming here, I spoke to my team-mates and hopefully I will go out with a winning knock."
