England, defending champions Australia, South Africa and New Zealand had all stated their concerns about safety after the suicide bomb attacks in Pakistan - Australia's players in particular being most vocal about potentially boycotting the event.
Safety issues were again raised most recently in June, when a suicide bomber detonated a device that killed 15 people in Islamabad.
However, despite the problems, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has always maintained it could host the eight-nation tournament safely.
PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf has stated: "We thank all member countries for their kind support. The competition goes ahead as planned.
"The ICC has decided to appoint a special task force which will visit Pakistan. The tournament will take place as scheduled from September 11 to September 28."
