Indians battle back in Bangalore

CricketIndia battled back in the first Test to close the second day on 68-0 but still trail a Mike Hussey-inspired Australia by 362 runs.

Hussey hit his ninth Test century, a carefully-compiled knock of 146, as the tourists were bowled out for 430 shortly after tea in Bangalore.

A lively morning spell from Ishant Sharma saw Shane Watson and Cameron White fall cheaply, but Hussey added 91 with Brad Haddin (33) and 59 with Brett Lee (27) while Indian paceman Zaheer Khan took 5-91.

Virender Sehwag (43 not out) and Gautam Gambhir (20 not out) helped India reach 68-0 when rain curtailed play.

Wicketkeeper Haddin showed his good sportsmanship behind the stumps by indicating that an edge by Sehwag off Stuart Clark had not carried - while the right-hander rode his luck when he nearly dragged a Mitchell Johnson delivery that kept low onto his stumps.
