Eagles swoop for Town hitman

C PalaceCrystal Palace have had a £600,000 bid for Ipswich striker Alan Lee accepted as boss Neil Warnock aims to add to his attacking options.

The 30-year-old was thought to be reluctant to leave Portman Road, having settled in East Anglia while he only signed a £500,000-a-year two-year deal with the club last summer. However Town boss Jim Magilton is keen to clear players out in order to be able to strengthen his own squad and agreed to the Eagles' offer.

Huddersfield and Preston are also thought to be interested, but a move to Palace would probably appeal more as it would mean Lee could stay in his current house without the need to move.

Eagles boss Neil Warnock is due to hold talks with Lee this week and could have the player on board ahead of Saturday's clash against Sheffield United as the team looks to bounce back from their 4-0 Carling Cup second round defeat shocker at League One Leeds on Tuesday.
