New boy aims to get Eagles flying

C PalaceNew goalkeeper signing Darryl Flahavan is looking to help Crystal Palace to success next term after joining from League One Southend.

The 29-year-old has completed his move to Selhurst Park from Roots Hall on a three-year deal and insists he will have no hangover from his former club's disappointing play-off performance when the Shrimpers were crushed 5-1 by Doncaster in the semi-final second leg at the Keepmoat Stadium in May.

Eagles boss Neil Warnock has ensured Flahavan will be playing in the Championship next term and the custodian is looking forward to the prospect.

"When you get to the play-offs you have it in the back of your mind that you think you are going up and obviously it was disappointing, especially the manner of the second-leg defeat," he told Palace's official website.

"But you have to put it to the back of your mind. It is a new season and, for me, a new start which I am looking forward to.

"I don't like to dwell too much on the past, that has gone now. You have to move on and look forward. Coming here is a big step-up for me and I'm looking forward to it."
