Palace miss out on Reims ace

Crystal Palace have missed out on the signing of Reims winger Floyd Ayite who has opted to stay in France with Bastia.

The 25-year-old has been attracting plenty of interest after he became available on a free transfer and at one stage it looked like he was heading to the Premier League.

Ayite had a fine season with Reims and reports claimed that Tony Pulis was keen to add him to his ranks, while West Bromwich Albion had also been linked.

However, the player has turned down the chance of a move to England and has penned a deal with fellow Ligue 1 side SC Bastia, much to the frustration of Pulis.

The Eagles boss is looking to strengthen his wide areas, and although he has money to spend, he is also looking at free transfers and Ayite was said to be on his wanted list.
