Striker hopes for Warnock

C PalaceCrystal Palace boss Neil Warnock is planning to add a striker to his squad but admits Ben Watson is still set to move on.

Warnock could turn to Watson in the Carling Cup at Leeds this week after Shaun Derry was sent off against Burnley, although interest in the want-away former England Under-21 is hotting up.

Warnock told the South London Press: "Ben's in the squad for Leeds but I still feel he'll go. We've had another couple of enquiries so I'm not going to get my hopes up with him.

"The offers now are not miles apart from our valuation. There is still some distance, but at this stage of the transfer window there is every chance they will come back with improved offers."

The Eagles boss added: "I would love to get someone in for Saturday. A striker is the missing link - I don't think there is too much wrong with anywhere else."
