Warnock ready to land striker

C PalaceCrystal Palace boss Neil Warnock looks set to bolster his striker ranks by finalising a move for Charlton forward Chris Iwelumo.

The Addicks are preparing for another season out of the Premier League and boss Alan Pardew has revealed he expects player movement out of the Valley.

Iwelumo has only been with Charlton for a year after joining from Colchester, but he is reportedly poised for a new challenge with the Eagles.

And he could be joined at the exit door by Marcus Bent, who has been heavily linked with a switch to Cardiff. Bent spent last season on loan at Wigan but was not retained. However, it looks as though he will replace Robbie Fowler at Ninian Park.

Speaking after the Addicks' 6-0 pre-season friendly win over Ebbsfleet on Saturday, Pardew admitted: "We have some players leaving this weekend. Chris (Iwelumo) is possibly leaving and so could Marcus Bent."
