A deal for the free-kick specialist could now be on the brink of collapse after the wide man failed his Selhurst Park medical.
However, Warnock confirmed that the deal has only been put on hold and says he has not given up hope of capturing the 23-year-old.
He said: "We've spoken to Mark about a move - but he has a major problem with his shoulder.
"It's something that needs to be sorted out - but we won't know now for another three to four weeks."
