Currie admits Daggers frustration

Dagenham first team coach Darren Currie admits his side cannot buy a win at the moment after a frustrating afternoon against Mansfield.

The hosts were forced to share a point each after an entertaining 0-0 draw at the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Stadium.

"It was frustrating," admitted Currie. "We've had a couple of defeats at home recently and again we've come away disappointed [at home] even though we've picked up a point.

"On another day with these boys they'd be putting away the chances we're creating. But when the confidence's low things don't run so naturally for you.

"We've seen Murph [Rhys Murphy] slot some balls into the bottom corner and take some great opportunities. But it just shows you how big a part confidence plays.

"We were a little bit nervous in our play in the first 15 to 20 minutes, but then we started to get braver and used to the ball better.

"The opportunities then started to come our way, but we just didn't quite have that cutting edge."

Both sides had plenty of chances to snatch maximum points, but goalkeepers Alan Marriott and Chris Lewington impressed between the posts to make sure there were no goals in the contest.

Currie added: "For the first 20 minutes I think we let them impose themselves on us. They got the ball forward, put us under pressure and we didn't cope brilliantly.

"But one thing we'd said was to not give away cheap free-kicks to give them opportunities to put balls into the box.

"However, we grew into the game and then started to look more solid at the back. We dealt with everything they had and our midfielders started to get on the ball.

"And our strikers got the opportunities we'd have liked. But it's about taking those opportunities - and we didn't do that."
