Bywater set for London return

DerbyRams goalkeeper Stephen Bywater is close to joining Tottenham, according to Pride Park boss Paul Jewell.

The former West Ham keeper is keen to go back to London where he is expected to take the role of understudy to new signing Heurelho Gomes at White Hart Lane.

Jewell told the Derby Evening Telegraph: "Tottenham came in with a bid for Stephen and the player is very keen to go, which is fully understandable.

"I would like to have kept him but it is a move which appeals to him and we wish him well."

Bywater, who was behind Roy Carroll and Lewis Price in the pecking order at Pride Park, has one year left on his contract with Derby.
