Hull City are preparing a £1.25million move for Derby playmaker Kris Commons as a replacement for Stephen Hunt.
Hunt has been attracting the interest of Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Wolves boss Mick McCarthy thought to have lodged an improved bid of around £3.5million for the Tigers' ace.
Hull boss Phil Brown has been told to slash his wage bill and reports suggest Hunt will be sacrificed as the club look to balance their books.
Derby winger Commons, 26, has now been linked with a switch to the KC Stadium as Brown searches for a replacement for Hunt, who has been arguably the Tigers' best player so far this season.
