Defender linked with Hoops switch

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan is said to be considering a £500,000 move for Derby County left-back Jay McEveley.

Rams boss Paul Jewell will be making major changes to his squad over the summer as he tries to build a side capable of mounting a challenge for promotion straight back to the Premiership.

The 22-year-old Scottish international looks as though he could be offloaded by the Rams just 18 months after signing for the club from Blackburn Rovers back in January of 2007.

Derby may try and stick out for a fee closer to the £600,000 which they were said to have paid for him but it does look as though the defender will be on his way.
