Defender loan interest

Derby boss Paul Jewell is believed to be a seeking a loan for Bolton defender Danny Shittu, who is out of favour at the Reebok.

The former Watford and QPR centre back has played just four times for Bolton since his summer move to Lancashire, with his last appearance coming in the 3-1 home defeat to Arsenal on September 20.

Shittu has lost his place in the side to Andy O'Brien and Gary Cahill and although he might be keen on some regular football, Gary Megson might not feel he has enough cover to allow him to leave.

Derby are looking for a temporary replacement for Martin Albrechtsen, who suffered a calf injury at the weekend and is facing a spell on the sidelines.
