Jewell denies cash claims

DerbyPaul Jewell says he has not missed out on any transfers because of a lack of money and is happy with the way things are going.

The Rams boss was speaking out after former chairman Peter Gadsby claimed there had not been any substantial investment by the new American owners, but Jewell has insisted he still has money to spend if he wants to.

He told the Telegraph: "Every player I have wanted has come to the club. No deal has fallen through because of wage demands or size of transfer fee, except the Ferrie Bodde one - and that was down to me. That was my call.

"When I took the job, I was told there would be an amount of money to spend on top of what I trade, OK, we have brought in £6m but the players we have moved on are either players who did not want to be here or I probably didn't want. I was not under pressure to sell anyone.

"Everything I have tried to do on that, I have been backed by the board."

"I would rather talk about football than politics but, as far as I am concerned, I am very comfortable with my working parameters. In fact, I am more than happy with them."
