Reading boss Steve Coppell is also interested in the player but he too is likely to baulk at the asking price as Swansea do not want to let him go especially as they would have to pay half the fee to his former club Den Haag.
Jewell told the Derby Telegraph: "It's frustrating that this transfer is being played out in the public eye but I suppose that is the way football is going at the moment.
"He is a player I rate highly and I believe we have made a very respectable offer. I would still like to bring Ferrie to Derby County and the chairman is continuing to work hard to build the squad we want for the new season."
