Midfielder bid rumours blasted

Derby have blasted reports suggesting Birmingham have made a £1million bid for midfielder Stephen Pearson.

Pearson appears to be up for grabs at Pride Park and speculation had suggested that Birmingham boss Alex McLeish had made an approach for the player.

However, Rams chairman of football Adam Pearson says there has not been any contact with Birmingham, who like Derby will be trying to bounce back to the Premiership at the first attempt.

The player is also said to be a target for Nottingham Forest.
