Move for Baggies ace falls through

DerbyDerby are set to miss out on signing veteran Kevin Phillips with the former England striker poised to pledge his future to West Brom.

The Rams were one of a number of teams following Phillips' situation at the Baggies with the 34-year-old considering his options after West Brom refused to offer him a two-year contract.

But, having played a leading role in helping West Brom win the Championship title last season and the prospect of another season in the Premier League, Phillips has had a change of heart and is now set to sign a new 12-month contract.

His agent Phil Smith said: "The lure of Premier League football again is very big. We have come to terms with the fact there may not be two years on offer."
