No excuses as winless run continues

DerbyDerby assistant manager Chris Hutchings admitted the Rams' Southampton display was "very poor" as they reached 35 games without a win.

The last time Derby won a League match was last September when they beat Newcastle United and it doesn't look like they'll be celebrating a win anytime soon after a dismal display in their loss to Southampton.

Derby have managed just one point from their opening three matches and Hutchings spoke frankly after watching his side dismantled by a very young Saints team.

"It was very poor. For the first 10 or 15 minutes we did well but then we fell away very badly," said Hutchings.

"We were second to everything, we were a yard slower and our passing was off. When you have so many players who don't perform, you are not going to win many football matches.

"If it hadn't been for our goalkeeper Roy Carroll we could have been beaten by three, four or five."
