Pearson's wage worry

DerbyDerby chairman of football Adam Pearson believes that Championship clubs will soon have to address the problem of players wages.

Pearson believes the clubs are now becoming aware that too much money is going out on agents and players and that something needs to be done over the next 12 to 18 months.

Derby themselves have one of the highest wage bills but Pearson denied this was a problem at Pride Park, he told the Telegraph: "No, we are at the budgeted wage level, we are exactly on the penny as to where we want it to be. There is no requirement to pull the wages down at all.

"There are wages going out on players who aren't particularly contributing to the first-team squad but I am sure that is the same at any club."
