However it is claimed a compromise has been reached between the 23-year-old and Black Country outfit which will see a transfer rubber-stamped in the near future.
Jones, who joined the Rams in a £1million deal from Manchester United in January 2007 following a successful loan stint at Pride Park, helped the club win promotion to the Premier League. However he struggled with groin and hernia injuries last term and barely featured in the club's disastrous top-flight foray which has resulted in Jewell agreeing to offload him to Wolves.
Jones made 42 appearances for Derby and scored seven goals, but he will now look to get his career back on track with Mick McCarthy's men.
