Rams eye Phillips

DerbyBoss Paul Jewell has turned his attention to West Brom striker Kevin Phillips after Derby ended their interest in Rob Hulse.

Baggies striker Phillips is out of contract at The Hawthorns and although he has been offered a new deal he has yet to put pen to paper and Baggies boss Tony Mowbray is preparing for Premiership life without him.

The much-travelled frontman is not short of offers after finding the net 22 times last season and Jewell would face a fight to land him with a host of other clubs all interested and the best contract offer will secure the deal.

Derby could also target Newcastle United teenager Andy Carroll who spent a period of last season out on loan at Preston.
