Rams give up on midfielder

DerbyDerby manager Paul Jewell has claimed he is looking elsewhere as the saga surrounding transfer target Ferrie Bodde continues.

It has now been eight weeks since the Rams first bid for the Swansea City star and now Jewell concedes he may have to focus his attention somewhere else.

He said: "The first offer was made between the chairmen of the two clubs and was then made public."

The issue has raised tensions between the two clubs with Derby now unwilling to meet the Swans asking price. The player has spoke out of his desire to move to Derby and has apparently gone AWOL from the Swans tour of Sweden.

Jewell added: "It has become a very bitter public row and is something I am not keen to get involved in."

The Rams boss said he has identified another target and may choose to pursue a different option.

He said: "If it is not going to happen quickly then we have got another target that we will have to move swiftly on."
