Swans boss Roberto Martinez is delighted, he told the Western Mail: "This was a football decision, not a financial one and for Swansea City it is like signing a £2m player.
"Let's be honest, Ferrie could have earned more money at Derby, so he certainly hasn't taken the money and run.
"His head is pretty clear now and he wants to play football for Swansea City. He wants to develop his own career here and help Swansea push for the Premiership.
"And that is a huge boost because we all know what Ferrie is capable of and now we have extra competition in midfield where we have options for the club to be proud of."
