Derby boss Nigel Clough hopes east midlands rivals Nottingham Forest inadvertently did his side a favour by beating Birmingham last weekend.
Forest inflicted Blues' first home defeat of the season in the Championship, ending their opponents' 15-game unbeaten run in the process.
The Rams head to St Andrew's on Saturday looking to replicate Forest's result and record a league double over Birmingham after defeating Chris Hughton's side 2-1 at Pride Park on the opening day of the season.
However, Derby are without a win in six Championship outings and have failed to score in their last four matches.
"August seems like a long time ago, Birmingham are not the same team we played on the opening day of the season," said Clough. "They have been on a terrific run recently, 15 games unbeaten I think it was, before losing at home to Nottingham Forest last week.
"Hopefully that has dented their confidence a bit. Forest went there not on the best of runs and we haven't scored for a while so hopefully we can go there and have a go at them as well."
