Derby plan to begin new contract negotiations with defender Jay McEveley and midfielder Gary Teale.

Both Teale and McEveley have impressed in the past 12 months and are looking to extend their stays at Pride Park following their moves from Blackburn and Wigan respectively in 2007.

The duo are both set to be out of contract in the summer and Rams boss Nigel Clough has admitted he wants the pair to stay on beyond the end of the campaign.

"We will be speaking to the representatives of both players in the next few days," Clough told the Derby Telegraph.

If they do sign on, they will follow in the footsteps of midfielder Stephen Pearson who signed a new deal last week that should keep him at the club until 2012.
