Tykes line up Rams defender

Barnsley boss Simon Davey appears to be in a straight fight with Nottingham Forest for the services of Derby defender Lewin Nyatanga.

The versatile defender, who can operate in the middle or at left-back, appears to have little future at Pride Park under Paul Jewell and both Barnsley and Forest are trying to add him to their squads.

The Welsh international was on loan at Oakwell last season and there was an agreement between the two clubs for the player to make a move but he has not as yet agreed personal terms and is thought to be mulling over the offers on the table.

Davey will not be held to ransom over wages and will change his targets if he is forced into a bidding war.
