Winger linked with Rams

Derby are being linked with a move for Tranmere Rovers winger Steve Davies who is out of contract at Prenton Park.

The versatile 20-year-old who can also play as a striker is being linked with a move to Pride Park but even though he is out of contract he would still cost the Rams a compensation package as he is under 23.

Rovers had been keen to keep Davies but the club's associate director, Tony Adams, admitted it was unlikely.

"The club have done everything in their power to make Steve Davies an offer," he said.

"He doesn't seem interested and I think it's almost inevitable that he will move on."
