Veteran defender Rob Jones is desperate to put his injury problems behind him and help Doncaster push for promotion back up to the Championship next season.

The 34-year-old had to sit and suffer on the sidelines as Rovers were relegated down to League One last term, with the former player-coach out of action since the end of October.

"I've still got a little way to go but it's great for me to train," Jones told the club's official website. "It's been a long time since I've trained; when you're a footballer who's injured it's a lonely world with few people to turn to and you get depressed watching them train.

"We'll see where I go from here but I think I'm helping in other ways so that takes my mind off not being able to play, which drives me crazy. I've got other things which occupy my mind, but the be-all and end-all is to get on the pitch and play and hopefully that won't be too far away."
