Doncaster goalkeeper Jonathan Maxted has joined Gainsborough Trinity on a one-month loan deal.

Maxted had previously been loaned out to Goole Town but the youngster was recalled early from that spell after Rovers stopper Neil Sullivan suffered an injury in mid-September.

Trinity's first-choice keeper Jan Budtz has returned to Denmark for family reasons so the non-league club moved to acquire Maxted on loan.

And he is grateful for the chance to be playing regularly for the next month.

"I'm happy to be going out on loan," Maxted told Rovers' official website. It means I will get regular game-time for the next month at least. Training is good but being in a game situation is different.

"Playing against grown men rather than youth players is another step up too so I'm really looking forward to it."
