Midfield the key for Rovers

DoncasterSam Hird says Doncaster have adapted to Championship football already and believes the club's midfield holds the key to a good season.

Rovers have made an encouraging start to life in the second tier of English football with two wins, a draw and one defeat from their opening four games and sit just three points behind the leaders in 10th place.

Hird admits it has been a 'big step up' but believes the club's midfielders have already adapted to life in the Championship.

He told the club's website: "Obviously, it has been a big step. It's a bit quicker, but in a strange way our midfielders say that you get a bit more time on the ball.

"With the way that we play football, that is good for our team.

"Apart from the game against QPR, our midfielders have been absolutely excellent and that plays a big part in why we do so well."
