O'Driscoll backed by chairman

DoncasterDoncaster chairman John Ryan has handed boss Sean O'Driscoll the dreaded vote of confidence after a difficult start to the season.

Rovers have taken just seven points from the first 30 on offer which sees them occupying one of the places in the bottom three.

Last time out Doncaster went down 4-1 against South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley despite the Tykes going down to 10 men and Ryan admits he questioned his own role.

"No-one is putting their heads in the sand - we are second bottom of the Championship table and we want to improve that situation - but both Sean and I agree that our performances have warranted better results," Ryan told the Evening Post.

"I was bitterly disappointed after the Barnsley game and I did think that maybe I should quit... but this club needs stability, that is why we have had so much success over these last five or six years.

"There will be no changing the manager either. In fact, I see Sean O'Driscoll in this job for many more years to come."
